A company devoted to visual theatre, THÉÂTRE INCLINÉ embraces fragmented spaces,
where inanimate matter, bodies, video, and music each embody a “detail” of a larger canvas.
Each new project takes root in the diverse territories that inspire the company’s two artistic explorers,
José Babin and Alain Lavallée.
Incliné thrives on encounters between artists from different cultures through coproductions with
France, Italy, Japan, Norway, Finland, and Gaspésie (Québec).
Founded in 1991, Théâtre Incliné is dedicated to creating interdisciplinary theatre of images.
Under the artistic direction of José Babin, with Alain Lavallée, the company has spent over thirty years developing a distinctive approach — a theatre of matter and poetry, where light, sound, bodies, objects, and text come together like fragments of a great painting to be reassembled.
Spectators are invited to take part in this process, weaving meaning through emotion and imagination.
Some works are created for adults, others for young audiences, families, or teens — all guided by the same desire to spark curiosity and foster human connection.
Inspired by its travels and international collaborations, Théâtre Incliné brings together cultures and disciplines.
Its puppetry approach is holistic: here, everything can come to life — an object, a light, a breath, a gesture.
From this alchemy emerge evocative, open works that leave a lasting impression well beyond the performance itself.
